Fathers

A woman can not be a father to her son (daughter)! I don't care how "independent, hard working, or great of a single mother" she is. The family was meant to include a man and a woman. We cannot minimize the important role that a man plays in the development of a boy (or a girl). Yes, some have to do it without the father. Some raise well-adjusted, positive members of society without a man in the house. However, a single woman that raises a great man, is a great mom. She will never be "mom & dad". We must understand that even in the most positive single parent situations, a child benefits more with a positive man in their life. They benefit best with both parents. We must stop perpetuating the idea that the positive father/man is expendable.
